When his cell phone buzzed in his pocket, Hunter told himself he wasn’t hoping it was Gina calling him back. He also wasn’t dwelling on that call from this morning. He glanced at the display before answering. It wasn’t Gina. “Hey, Tucker.”

“Hunter!” his brother’s unusually chipper voice responded. “Am I pulling you away from anything?”

“Guess I could find some time for you.” Hunter walked out to the terrace, to look over the land that had become his life. “What’s going on?”

“I’m hoping to plan a little family celebration, out at the vineyard.”

“Celebration?” Hunter grinned. “Don’t tell me you tricked Nora into saying yes.” They’d been together for years now, so it was about time to make things official. Nora had instantly hit it off with their entire family.

Tuck laughed drily. “Not yet. We’re going to be out there next week, so hopefully she’ll accept, if I get up the nerve to ask her.”

“You want to ask her out here?” Their parents would be thrilled.

“Probably back home. But I was thinking we could do a sort of engagement party thing, surprise her. Or I could get hammered when she turns me down.”

“If she has any sense, she will.” Hunter turned away from the view and headed around back to his office. “When were you thinking?”

“A week from Friday, or Saturday. So we can fly back out on Sunday.”

Hunter flipped through the calendar on his desk. He had a computer system accessible to the main staff that tracked everything that went on in the winery, but he still preferred keeping a paper calendar with his own scribbles, like his grandmother had when she’d run the winery’s events. “When are you coming out?”

“Tuesday. Figure I’ll need the time to work up to it, let Mom and Dad soften her up.”

Hunter’s finger landed on the weekend Tuck was talking about. “I have a concert that Thursday.” It was actually Kane Hartridge’s return to the winery. His first performance, a couple days before the wedding, had even gotten some decent buzz going. The discount the band’s manager had negotiated for the nuptial festivities was definitely worth the additional influx of bodies. “Some tours scheduled to drop by Saturday afternoon, too, but otherwise it’s your call. You want to check with Mom?”

“You’re the best, Hunter.”

“Well, one of us has to be.”

Tuck laughed again. “I’ll let you know as soon as I get things figured out.”

Hunter grabbed a pen to note the dates, then groaned. “I should expect a call from Mom, shouldn’t I?” Their mother would probably have very specific ideas about how to mark the occasion.

“I wasn’t planning on telling her why, just when.”

Hunter snorted.

“You don’t think I can pull it off? As long as you don’t tell her when she calls.”

“You got it.” She’d probably figure it out before calling him anyway.

“You know she’s going to ask about your lack of a suitable relationship, right?”

Hunter grimaced. “Relationship” may be questionable, but “suitable” definitely wasn’t the way to describe whatever he had going on with Gina.
